Hello and welcome to my site.

I love nature, rocks and fossils, hiking and most of all photography. I also like off the beaten track traveling that involves at least some adventure and definitely nature photography.

I first became interested in photography as a little girl watching my father develop his black and white photographs in his darkroom. Later on in life, my interest grew into obsession after taking photography classes at Santa Monica College mainly using black and white film and developing them at the school’s photo lab. I have always used Nikon SLR cameras, but I have been slowly adapting myself to use digital cameras for the past few years. I love to photograph nature but my all time favorite category has always been doors and windows.

In addition to the photographs I have taken over the years and some of my travel stories, I have included photos of my jewelry work; my latest creative impulse in which I use semi-precious stones, fossils and ancient beads with sterling silver or copper. My site was initially launched in 2001. Thanks to my sister Meltem Birkegren, I now have freshly designed, up to date site.
